Spirit of Leadership
Know any outstanding automotive industry professional women ?

We are looking for nominations for our Professional Achievement Awards and for Spirit of Leadership Awards for 2009.

Please provide the name, company and title and a brief bio about her qualifications and your reasons for the nomination.

Spirit of Leadership Award

Established in 1999, the WAAI's "Spirit of Leadership" award is presented annually to professional women in the automotive industry in recognition of their significant accomplishments in their profession, community, and family. These women have dedicated their life to their profession and to giving back to others; and they serve as mentors and are role models to us all. Sustained superior performance, community involvement, influence and support of other women within the automotive industry are just some of the qualities these women possess.
A Spirit of Leadership award is given for three automotive business sectors: 1) manufacturer, 2) dealership, and 3) supplier. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone you know for this award, nominations for 2009 are due by October 31, 2008 to Lorraine Schultz (fax: 248-646-6721; e-mail: lhswaai@aol.com).

Professional Achievement Award

Established in 1997, the Professional Achievement Award is presented annually to a professional woman in the automotive industry in recognition of her Commitment, Professionalism, and Success in the automotive industry. Qualities that each recipient of this award have in common include: a) outstanding accomplishments in career, b) leader in business and community, and c) influence and support of other women in the automotive industry.

A recipient may be actively engaged in or retired from the automotive industry when selected. The International Board of Directors of the Women's Automotive Association International ratifies selections.

Sherrie Childers Arb

Director of Technology Communications, General Motors Corporation
Childers Arb was named communications manager for GM's Shanghai, China, operations in 1996, and was promoted to director GM China Communications in September 1998. She was appointed director of GM's global Powertrain Group upon her return to the US in 1999, and in 2001, was named vice president of Saturn Corporate Communications. Childers Arb holds a bachelor of arts from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

 
Pam Mabry-Cadigan

Pam Mabry-CadiganVice President of Inspection Operations, Manheim
Growing the Vehicle Inspection business is a major focus for Manheim and Pam was the accomplished leader selected to take on the enormous task of setting the industry standard for quality and consistent inspection processes, something that Pam is skilled and passionate about! In just a short time, Pam and her team have launched a standardized inspection process and elevated Manheim's Inspectors skills through certifications, training and quality assurance initiatives.

 
Terri L. Mulcahey

Terri L. MulcaheyVice President of Business Development , Penske Automotive Group
Terri recently joined Penske Automotive Group after a 20 year career at the Reynolds and Reynolds Company. In her new role at Penske Automotive Group, Terri is responsible for identifying new business opportunities as well as providing key support for many customer service initiatives including website development and Customer relationship management activities

Gillian Zucker

Gillian ZuckerPresident of California Speedway, California Speedway
Gillian Zucker was named the fourth President of California Speedway on June 23, 2005, making her the first female president of a track hosting a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event. As president, Zucker oversees all of the Speedway's business units including marketing, public relations, ticketing, accounting and operations.

 
Sandra Gillespie

Sandra GillespieSenior Vice President, Procurement & Supply, Mitsubishi Motors North America.
Sandra Gillespie the 2008 WAAI Chicago Chapter Professional Achievement Award honoree has over 31 years experience in manufacturing and 19 years with Mitsubishi Motors. Her success in a non-traditional role in a dual-culture company and in an industry that is not generally recognized for its support and advancement of women and minorities are especially noteworthy.
