If Santa can do it, why not you?
Learn to travel with just one bag, do some shopping and help the homeless.
December 2.

Detroit, MI – November 11, 2004

Your holiday gifts are in the bag, this year. Learn what you’ve always wished you could do. Travel anywhere in the world with only one bag to tote—and always look great upon arrival. Sound impossible? Not if you’ve ever met the personable and totally travel-savvy Lynn Portnoy at one of her bag-packing workshops.

Now, just in time for the holidays, this well known clothier is teaming up with the Women’s Automotive Association International (WAAI) and COTS (Coalition for Temporary Shelter) to offer a special benefit evening of holiday shopping along with her “Travel With One Bag” presentation. Shop for great holiday gifts -- from $10 to $1000….perk up your travel wardrobe…enjoy some refreshments…and have a lot of fun.

The date is Thursday, December 2 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at Lynn Portnoy’s Southfield store at 29260 Franklin Road. The price of admission is to bring a canned good, cash or warm clothing donation to help the homeless. Plus Lynn will donate 10% of the evening’s sales to COTS.

Most women know Lynn Portnoy as a women’s clothier in Bricktown, Royal Oak and now Southfield. Ms. Portnoy is also an “off-the-beaten-track-wanderer” who delights in sharing her female travel discoveries, insider tips and hilarious travel bloopers. Best of all, she has a knack for finding the most wonderful gifts from inexpensive stocking stuffers (like slipper socks and scarves) to entire travel wardrobes.

Kelly Kane, Public Affairs Director of WAAI, has attended Lynn’s Shopping extravaganzas and Travel with One Bag presentations in the past. One year, she bought six (6) Going Like Lynn books – one for each of her six sisters before their bi-annual all-sister trip to Paris. “Lynn’s books are a ‘must read’ before you go to Paris, New York or Florence,” says Kelly Kane, an advertising executive with Portfolio XXI. “In addition to telling you what to bring and what to wear, Lynn lists the best hotels and restaurants in every single price range—from just a few Euros to the most elegant venues. I would not think of going to a new city abroad without consulting Lynn,” Kane adds.

The cost for this year’s shopping and travel tips event is your donation of dollars or canned goods or warm clothing for the homeless -- to be distributed by COTS which is dedicated to assisting the homeless, with meals and shelter. Please RSVP by November 30 by calling 248-636-5440, as space is limited for this fun shopping event.
